Some students still whip into school propelled by their weighty backpacks or rolling them on wheels looking like they are traveling to Mexico, instead of math class. Those heavy backpacks are so old school! Here’s how this new generation does it. BAM! Instead of having to take all those thick textbooks back and forth from school, many teens now simply snap a picture of their homework assignment pages on their cellphones. No fuss, no muss. No notebooks either, as many teens just write their work on a computer or on paper they leave at home.
No giant books to mess up your perfect Vera Bradley or Louis Vuitton handbag -- or your back. Not only does it lighten your load, it’s easy on your wallet. You can save on school supplies, especially those pricey North Face backpacks. Some teachers also lessen the burden by putting their homework lessons online, or having them accessible via a flash drive. What do you think is the next shortcut for making homework easier to complete? Not having to do homework at all? Stay tuned!
Backpack Facts •One study found that the average weight of backpacks students lugged around was 15 pounds. •About 5,000 children a year in the US wind up in emergency rooms due to backpack-related injuries. •In 2010, some 28,000 sprains, strains, dislocations, and fractures caused by backpacks were treated in US medical facilities.
